Kiwanis ‘Peanut Day’ fundraiser

The North Suburban Kiwanis Golden K Club launched its annual Peanut Day drive on July 1. The drive, which runs until Aug. 15, is a fundraiser used to support youth programs in the community. In return for each $50 donated, donors can opt to receive a box of peanuts. All of those involved in the annual drive are volunteers, and all money contributed, net the cost of the peanuts, is passed on to charities that support kids’ activities.

In 2018, over 100 business and professional entities contributed amounts ranging from $50 to $500. A number of individuals made contributions as well. The drive enabled Kiwanis to provide over $9,100 in direct contributions to 15 community programs. Club members also logged over 5,100 volunteer hours in support of these programs.

Businesses and individuals are encouraged to participate. Anyone interested in supporting the annual fund drive — and obtaining a box of peanuts — should visit the club website, www.thegoldenkayer.org, for more information.
