Kiwanis launch annual Peanut Day drive

The North Suburban Kiwanis Golden K Club has launched its annual Peanut Day drive, which will run through Aug. 15. The club puts on the fundraiser every year to raise money for community youth programs, giving individuals and businesses an opportunity to contribute to these initiatives in exchange for a box of peanuts. All those involved in the drive are volunteers and all money contributed, minus the cost of the peanuts, is passed on to charities that support youth activities.
Last year’s drive enabled Kiwanis to provide over $9,100 in direct contributions to 15 community programs. Club members also logged over 5,100 volunteer hours in support of these initiatives.
There is no minimum contribution, although you must give $50 in order to receive a box of peanuts. Businesses and individuals interested in participating can call 651-490-7688.
