Toastmasters open house in Mounds View

North Side Toastmasters will celebrate its sixth anniversary with an open house on Wednesday, June 26, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Cross of Glory Church in Mounds View, 5472 Adams St. This free event is open to the public. A light breakfast will be available.

Toastmasters is a nonprofit, worldwide organization that helps its members improve their communication skills by offering opportunities to speak, listen, evaluate and lead. North Side Toastmasters meets every Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. at Cross of Glory Church.

The meeting agenda includes a prepared speech and evaluation by club members along with impromptu speaking opportunities for members and guests who choose to participate. Observing is OK, too. Some of the categories available for learning in Toastmasters include podcasts, leadership, humor, coaching and more.

There are clubs that meet at different times and on different days of the week. There is no limit to the amount of times you can visit. The cost to join Toastmasters is $50 for six months, but is free for visitors. Many large corporations offer Toastmaster meetings within their organizations. Some are limited to company employees while others are open to all. To search for a club near you go to
