The 12th annual Taste of Rosefest is set for Thursday, June 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Roseville’s Central Park near the Dale Street entrance at the Muriel Sahlin Arboretum.

Visit with friends and neighbors, sample good food and drinks from many local restaurants, listen to music and enjoy a lovely summer evening in the park during the Roseville Rotary Club-sponsored get-together.

“Over the years the Taste of Rosefest has proven to be a wonderful community event,” says Roseville Rotarian Jerry Hromatka, Taste chair. “It provides the setting for neighbors to come together and enjoy a summer evening while supporting a worthy cause.”

Food booths will be set up around the arboretum, and offerings may include samples of pizza, ham, beef, barbecue ribs, sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, cookies and pastries, soup, imported cheeses, chocolate, scones, carrot cake and smoothies from some 25 Roseville eateries. MGM Wine & Spirits will provide wine and beer samples at several booths for this 21-and-older event.

“I truly appreciate the food and the drinks at the Taste of Rosefest,” says Rotarian Loren Swanson. “What is rewarding about putting on this event is watching guests at both the sitting and standing tables enjoying the food, drink and the good weather. My joy also comes from the conversations I see between friends and neighbors.”

“It is a wonderful backyard party in a beautiful garden,” says Terry Gilberstadt, president of Roseville Rotary. “I love to see all our guests enjoying the food and the venue and meeting old and new friends, all to support our community. What could be better?”

Music, an auction and more

There is music to enjoy throughout the evening. The Roseville Lutheran Church Jazz Band will be playing a range of standards and classics in the music pavilion. The Stompers Dixieland Band from Centennial Methodist Church will perform near the entry pavilion, and acoustic guitarist Rick Vanderwall, a faculty member at the University of Northern Iowa, will perform there from 5 to 6:15 p.m. to greet folks.

Looking for gifts or bargains for yourself? A big white tent will house silent auction items that include a kayak from Urban Boat Builders, golf for four at Midland Hills Country Club, State Fair Grandstand tickets, works of art, a glider ride, autographed sports memorabilia, theater and St. Paul Saints tickets, gift baskets and gift cards to area restaurants and shops.

Like to play games? Then toss a ring or two and try to win a bottle of wine.

With an eye on the environment , 95% of the waste generated from the event will be recycled. And for those interested in saving energy with electric cars, the latest electric vehicle technologies and four of the greenest vehicles — Tesla Models M and X, the Chevrolet Bolt and a Nissan Leaf — will be on display.

“When it comes to Taste of Rosefest,” says Mari Evans of St. Paul, “I simply can’t pick out just one favorite thing.”
