Arden Hills

Dog bites squirrel

A caller from the 1400 block of County Road E the evening of May 5 called the sheriff’s department to report a dog running loose that killed a squirrel.

 

In distress

Squad cars were sent to Lake Valentine Road and Interstate 35W the night of May 7 on a report of a woman screaming for help because of an apparent assault, though once deputies made contact with her she was uncooperative and said she didn’t want anything done.

 

Sick coyote

Someone called the police the morning of May 6 to report a sickly coyote at the intersection of Knoll Drive and County Road I.

 

 

Falcon Heights

DWI crash

Sheriff’s deputies helped University of Minnesota police handle a drunk driver who crashed on university property in the early morning hours of May 11 at Larpenteur and Fairview avenues.

 

Hide your valuables

A 53-year-old Forest Lake woman told police the morning of May 6 that while her car was parked at Community Park at Cleveland and Roselawn avenues someone smashed the driver’s side window on her vehicle and stole her purse. She’s out cash, her ID and bank cards.

 

 

Lauderdale

DWI

Police arrested a 32-year-old St. Paul man May 2 at Eustis Street and Idaho Avenue after stopping him for suspected DWI. He blew a .17 blood alcohol concentration and was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for third-degree DWI.

 

Take my car, please

A 38-year-old man told police May 1 that his 1999 Subaru Forester had been stolen overnight as it was parked in the 1900 block of Walnut Street. The car had been unlocked with its key inside.

 

Warrant arrests

An officer on patrol May 1 in the 1700 block of Malvern Street came upon a suspicious RV and people in the area. After identifying those inside the camper, the officer learned that one of them, a 28-year-old man, was wanted on a DOC warrant for violating his release because of a first-degree assault. The man was booked at the Ramsey County Jail and the rest of people were told to move the RV.

 

An officer saw a 25-year-old man walking in the 1600 block of Eustis Street May 2 and knew he had a Ramsey County warrant out for felony terroristic threats, so the officer arrested him and booked him at the jail.

 

 

Little Canada

Arrest

A 38-year-old Little Canada man was stopped the night of May 6 in the 100 block of Little Canada Road for a burnt out license plate light and was arrested for a narcotics warrant out of Dakota County.

 

Burglaries

A 33-year-old man and 29-year-old woman who live in the 3000 block of Maple Leaf Court told police the morning of May 8 that someone had entered their house overnight, stealing a purse, backpack and a phone. The prowler had also rummaged through their cars in the attached garage; they’d left the garage door open.

 

Someone forced their way into Rocco’s Pizza in the 2700 block of Lakeshore Drive as discovered the morning of May 11 and stole a dollar bill change machine.

 

Hide in the house

A deputy attempted to stop a car the morning of May 6 in the area of Rice Street and County Road C. The driver attempted to ditch police by pulling into a home’s driveway in the 2600 block of Rice Street, and police ended up arresting two Coon Rapids men, ages 32 and 28, for outstanding warrants; a third person in the car was released. The deputy also found drugs in the car, so the men might be facing more charges.

 

Theft

A 41-year-old Columbia Heights man is the prime suspect in the theft of $485 from a window tinting business in the 3000 block of Centerville Road. The business made the report on May 9; police tried to contact the man but couldn’t, so he was mailed a citation for misdemeanor theft.

 

 

Mounds View

DWI

A driver stopped just after midnight on May 10 for failing to keep his lane on Mounds View Boulevard near County Road H found himself in a heap of trouble. The 34-year-old Brooklyn Center man initially gave the police officer the name of a different person and was found out; the man also had an open bottle of booze in the car, had violated the interlock system in the vehicle and was eventually found to be intoxicated. The man was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for first-degree DWI and the offenses listed above.

 

Indecent exposure

A 33-year-old Texas man was arrested in the early morning hours of May 5 at the Days Inn in the 2100 block of Program Avenue for indecent exposure.

 

One way to deal with it

Someone who lives in the 5400 block of Jackson Drive called the police to report a homeless person on the block the night of May 5.

 

Drugs and weapons

A 28-year-old Spring Lake Park man stopped at 2 a.m. May 11 on Mounds View Boulevard at County Road H was arrested and booked at the Ramsey County Jail for driving with a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession of a dangerous weapon, brass knuckles or a switchblade.

 

 

New Brighton

Likely story

A 32-year-old man caught well after dark May 12 peeking into vehicles with a flashlight outside a business in the first block of Old Highway 8 told police he worked there; a quick run of the man’s name through the system showed he was wanted for a Ramsey County drug warrant. The man was arrested and police found a glass pipe in his pocket, which officers refer to as a “meth bubble.”

 

She did what she said she would

A 29-year-old woman ran into her ex-boyfriend at the laundromat, got into a fight with him and informed him she was going to mess up his car so he couldn’t get to work. Sure enough, she showed up at the man’s home the morning of May 8 and slashed all four of his car’s tires and ripped off its license plate as the man’s mother and sister watched. The woman was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal property damage.

 

Stolen plates

A 26-year-old woman who lives in condos in the 600 block of Old Highway 8 told police May 10 that someone had swiped her license plates and replaced them with some that weren’t her’s. When police ran the imposter plates, they came up as stolen out of Brooklyn Center from a car of the same make as the woman’s.

 

A 37-year-old woman told police May 14 just before noon that she’d parked in a lot in the 1900 block of Silver Lake Road that morning around 8 a.m., and between then and the time of her reporting, someone had stolen the back license plate off her car.

 

 

Shoreview

Blazed and confused

A deputy came upon a 21-year-old Richfield man the afternoon of May 10, stopped in his car and perplexed by a “Road Closed” sign on Hodgson Road at Rice Street. As noted by the deputy, “Strong smell of marijuana did not help his ability to navigate his predicament.” The man was also driving without a license, didn’t have insurance and it wasn’t even his car, so he was arrested and the car was towed.

 

Domestic assault

The daughter of a 53-year-old Mora woman who had her mother watching her kids at her Shoreview home came home May 10 to find the woman drunk. The younger woman asked her mother to leave, and she became violent, pushing her daughter and attempting to punch her; the woman also attempted to punch her son. Deputies had to drag the woman off and force her into the squad car after she kicked them. The woman was charged with disorderly conduct, fifth-degree assault, obstructing the legal process and misdemeanor domestic assault.

 

Fluffy dog

A report of a small fluffy dog barking in a backyard for two hours came in around 6 a.m. on May 7 from the 4800 block of Hanson Road. A deputy showed up and no one answered the door while the pup was still in the yard, yapping. The issue was referred to an animal control officer.

 

Ticket fraud

A 55-year-old woman told police May 10 that someone had used her credit card to purchase plane tickets from Miami to Minneapolis and back. The fraud was conducted through a travel agency in Las Vegas, and the woman had her credit card in her possession the whole time.

 

 

St. Anthony

DWIs

A 35-year-old St. Anthony man stopped May 4 at 37th Avenue and Highcrest Road was suspected of having been intoxicated but refused a breath test; he was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for test refusal and third-degree DWI. A 21-year-old Minneapolis man stopped May 5 at 39th Avenue and Stinson Boulevard submitted to a blood test because he was suspected of being intoxicated; he was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for fourth-degree DWI, and may face further charges once the blood test results come back.

 

Assault

An 89-year-old woman on April 29 told staffers at the care center in the 3700 block of Foss Road about an assault that had happened the evening prior. The care facility is investigating and will update police as needed.
