NEWSBRIEF: State House passes ERA bill

The Minnesota House of Representatives passed an Equal Rights Amendment bill on March 7.

The Senate still has yet to take a full vote on the bill. FInal passage would put the ERA in front of voters on the 2020 ballot. Approval at that stage would amend the state Constitution to say that equality shall not be denied on the basis of gender.

State Rep. Mary Kunesh-Podein, DFL-New Brighton for District 41B, sponsored the bill.

Approved on a 72-55 House vote, the bill will be considered in the Senate.
