From 4 to 4:30 p.m., Feb. 21 learn the basics of how 3-D printers work and how to get started printing in the iLAB. Discover ways to create your own 3-D designs using CAD tools for beginners. Playful parenting

Learn storytelling, improvisation, theater and creativity techniques for better communication, less stress and more creativity at home in these interactive workshops from Improv Parenting. Youth ages 6 and older with their caregivers are welcome to attend this session on Feb. 23 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N.


Minecraft sewing

Learn how circuits can be incorporated into fabric by sewing a torch inspired by Minecraft. Registration is required. Open to kids ages 11 to 17, this will run from 2 to 4 p.m., at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave, Feb. 23. Call 651-554-6800 for more information.


Winter Fun Fest

Come to the fourth annual West St. Paul Winter Fun Fest Feb. 23 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at Harmon Park, 230 Bernard St. W. Enjoy hay rides, a live DJ, ice skating, meat raffles, henna tattoos, medallion hunt, beer, wine, food, fireworks and more. Hangout with the St. Paul Winter Carnival Royalty, a sled dog team, Minneapolis Aquatennial Royalty, the St. Paul Vulcans and people from around the community. Enter to win door prizes including a 50-inch TV. The drawing will be at 6 p.m., and you must be present to win fireworks will begin at 6:15 p.m.

Where History Meets Mystery

From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Feb. 19, join mystery authors to explore the darker side of Minnesota. Discover how historical events inspired their writing, the challenges they encountered when researching the past and how they balance mystery and history when writing. Presented by Twin Cities Sisters in Crime, this will take place at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E. It is intended for adults age 55 and up.


Stories at Lawshe

The Dakota County Historical Society and South St. Paul Public Library are collaborating for a special storytime series making history come alive through stories and activities for toddlers and preschoolers. Siblings and daycare groups are welcome to attend this session on Feb. 19 from 10:15 to 11 a.m., Feb. 19, at the Lawshe Memorial Museum, 130 Third Ave. N., South St. Paul. This is geared for kids ages 2 to 6.


TED TALKS Discussion 

The first 20 minutes of this session on Feb. 19 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., will be spent watching a popular pre-selected TED TALK Video. Next, a facilitator will lead a discussion by posing a few questions to get the conversation started and the group will do the rest. No registration is needed. This discussion will center around “Why Eyewitnesses Get It Wrong” with Scott Fraiser as the speaker. A $1 donation at the door is asked. This will take place at Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul.


Dakota gardener meeting

Dakota Gardeners Club’s February meeting will feature Dr. David Zlesak, Professor of Horticulture at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  He will speak on “Tried and True Methods of Seed Starting Indoors,” 7 p.m. Feb. 20, at South St. Paul High School, 700 Second St. N. Book Bingo

Come to this grown-ups only bingo night to test your luck and win free books and DVDs. Snacks will be provided. It will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Feb. 21 at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N. There will also be a bingo night on Feb. 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E.


West St. Paul neighborhood meeting

A series of neighborhood meetings will be held in West St. Paul for residents to share their ideas, opinions and ask questions. All are invited and encouraged to join West St. Paul elected officials and staff members at one of these meetings. The first meeting will be Feb. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 1575 Charlton St. A second meeting will be Feb. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Thompson Park, 1198 Sperl St., with a final meeting Feb. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.
