SNAPSHOTS: Shovels and singing

Richardson Elementary students sang their school song on a sunny Oct. 30 in North St. Paul before helping school, city and state officials break ground on the roughly $20 million renovation of their school. When all is said and done, Richardson will have new secured entrances, technology, lighting and energy efficiency upgrades, along with redesigned learning spaces. The action at Richardson came a week after District 622 broke ground on $20 million worth of similar improvements at Castle Elementary School in Oakdale, with district officials pointing out that the work at both schools is being done without raising taxes on district homeowners.
