Judge Jesson: Independent and fair

To the Editor:

I am writing to encourage you to vote for Judge Lucinda Jesson for the Minnesota Court of Appeals. As one of 19 Minnesota Court of Appeals judges, she has been serving in this capacity for nearly three years. Judge Jesson's appointment was based on a nonpartisan, merit-based selection process used by governors for over 30 years.

Judge Jesson's professional background is impressive: commissioner of Minnesota's Department of Human Services for five years; chief deputy Hennepin County Attorney; Hamline University School of Law faculty member; deputy Minnesota Attorney General; and a leading lawyer in private practice.

The Minnesota Court of Appeals may not be familiar to many, but it plays a critical role for the people of Minnesota, reviewing decisions of the trial courts, state agencies and local governments. She is endorsed by the Star Tribune and the Academy of Certified Trial Lawyers of Minnesota, and in a statewide poll of Minnesota lawyers, over 90 percent supported Judge Jesson.

I think that's because she is independent and fair and widely respected for her integrity, her knowledge and the breadth of her experience. If you want to know how she makes decisions, she makes that easy: she posted all of her judicial opinions on her campaign website. Read a few.

Please support and vote for Judge Lucinda Jesson to continue her service on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
