LETTER: Vote to undo the ‘sneaky’ term changes in New Brighton

To the Editor:

It’s radical that the New Brighton City Council and mayor voted quietly at the first meeting after the November 2017 election to change the election results from a two-year term for mayor to now three, and four-year terms for city council members to five years, when on the ballot everyone saw and voted for the specified terms of two years for mayor and four years for city council!

I should know and recall it well — I was on the ballot for mayor and it specfied two years.

A “yes” vote on this November’s ballot question will bring back the 2019 election they just up and cancelled. The idea of changing the election cycle didn’t even come up during the election. Sneaky.
