LETTER: Befriend the Ramsey County libraries

To the Editor:

Have you ever enjoyed reading at a Ramsey County Library? Have your kids spent time with friends at the library or enjoyed a special program like the Kindergarten Card Celebration or the Summer Reading Program Kickoff? Did you know that community donations help to make those programs possible? Do you know how you can support Ramsey County Library?

County and state government funding for Ramsey County Library can only stretch so far. The Friends of the Ramsey County Libraries is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthen, support and advocate for Ramsey County Library. We do that by raising private donations through events like the upcoming Author Talk and Luncheon in November, the Annual Friends Gala in February and the Book It 5K in May.

In 2017, the Friends of the Ramsey County Libraries provided more than $174,000 to Ramsey County Library to support vital learning programs for children, teens and adults at the libraries located in Maplewood, Mounds View, New Brighton, North St. Paul, Roseville, Shoreview and White Bear Lake. Since 1979, Friends members, volunteers and donors have provided more than $3.5 million in funding, materials and enhancements at all Ramsey County Library locations.

To help the Ramsey County Library be the best that it can be, become a member of Friends of the Ramsey County Libraries — or you can make a donation, add the Friends to your will or sponsor a Friends event. Check out www.rclfriends.org and become a Friend today. Together we can do so much!
