Prairie Days

Prairie Days will be hosted Sunday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Southwood Nature Preserve, 2651 Holloway Ave. A presentation by The Raptor Center will begin at 3 p.m. Those who arrive before the presentation will be able to play games, make crafts and check out some cool reptiles. Prairie Days offers a great way for people of all ages to learn about native flora and fauna.


Quilt show

The River Valley Quilters have quilts on display at the R.H. Stafford Library, 8595 Central Park Pl., Woodbury, through the end of September. The quilting group will also hold Quilted Treasures, another quilt show, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lake Middle School, 3133 Pioneer Drive, Woodbury. Admission to the Quilted Treasures show costs $5.


Ink art for teens

In this class, teen participants of all artistic abilities will learn alcohol ink techniques to create a ceramic tile or small jewelry plate for their room or for a gift. Ink is diluted with rubbing alcohol and can be splattered, dripped, brushed, stamped or air blown. This event, held Friday, Sept. 28, from 3 to 4 p.m. is for youth ages 11 and up, and registration is required.
