Roseville City Council primary a week away

The Roseville City Council primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 14.

There are three candidates for mayor, incumbent Mayor Dan Roe, current council member Tammy McGehee and newcomer Brett Rose. The primary will eliminate one of the candidates ahead of Election Day on Nov. 6.

Roe is seeking his third, four-year term as mayor while McGehee is finishing out her second, four-year term as a council member. Rose is a 10-year Roseville resident who handles marketing and sales for hotels owned by RBG Group.

There are six candidates running for two city council seats — the primary will winnow the field to four candidates.

Incumbent Bob Willmus is seeking his third, four-year term on the council up against Jim Bull, Wayne Groff, Abel Aaron Nelson, Dannah Thompson and Vince Trovato.

Bull and Groff are current members of the Roseville Planning Commission. Groff also ran as a DFL-endorsed candidate for the city council in 2016, coming up short in the three-way race against incumbent council members Jason Etten and Lisa Laliberte.

The polls are open Aug. 14 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Go to to see if you are registered, to find your polling place and to view a sample ballot, or contact Ramsey County Elections at 651-266-2171 or
