3M drinking water settlement open house

The City of Oakdale is hosting an open house regarding the 3M drinking water settlement on Tuesday, July 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakdale City Hall, 1584 Hadley Ave. N. The agenda for the open house will focus on three items: updates on EPA and MDH studies or actions, an update on the formation of the 3M Settlement Working Group, and a presentation on city well operations to provide treatment and blending.


Coffee with a Cop

North St. Paul police officers are hosting Coffee with a Cop on Friday, July 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. Residents can come to the new Starbucks located within Target’s North St. Paul location, 2199 Hwy 36, to meet the police officers who serve their neighborhoods.


A trip through time

What do a bumblebee and the St. Paul and Duluth Railroad have in common? Gladstone Savanna! Once the site of railroad repair shops, the savanna is now one of Maplewood’s most unique preserves. People of all ages are invited to celebrate the Gladstone Savanna at the southwest corner of Frost Avenue and English Street on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The free event will include a ribbon cutting, treats, a scavenger hunt along the paved trail loop, sweep netting for insects in the prairie and more. Street parking will be available on Frost Avenue, west of English Street or in the parking lot at Flicek Park.


Firetrucks at the Oakdale Library

On Thursday, July 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., the brave firefighters from the Oakdale Fire Department will give safety tips, demonstrate equipment, and bring fire trucks for participants to explore! In the case of rain, this program will be held Thursday, August 2, at 6:30 p.m. People of all ages are invited.


New to Medicare

The Oakdale Library, 1010 Heron Ave. N., is hosting a 90 minute presentation about Medicare. This presentation, which will be held Thursday, July 26, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., reviews what is covered by Parts A, B, C, and D of Medicare, as well as Medicare supplement options available. The enrollment process and options for enrollment will be discussed along with the personal costs of the program. The presentation will address the ‘donut hole’ and eligibility for extra help with prescription drug costs. Changes to Medicare will be reviewed as well as examples of Medicare fraud. It will also introduce the services of the Senior LinkAge Line that include making comparisons using the Medicare.gov website the ‘Health Care Choices booklet, published by the Minnesota Board on Aging.
