FAITH: A week of solitude, silence and renewal

The Benedictine Center in Maplewood is offering an opportunity to experience a Directed Retreat. This retreat will be held Friday, June 22, through Friday, June 29. The $450 cost includes single lodging, meals and spiritual direction.

“Participants will be able to settle in for eight days of quiet, renewal and solitude within the rhythm of the monastic community,” explains Sam Rahberg, director of the Center. They will also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a spiritual director “who will accompany them wherever the Spirit leads them.”

Participants are also welcome to join the Sisters for prayer, to walk the labyrinth, take in the art exhibit, explore the library or simply rest and pray in the privacy of their own rooms.

The sessions will be led by Benedictine Sisters Jackie Leiter, Virginia Matter and Carol Rennie. Sr. Jackie is a teacher in the St. Paul Public School system. Sr. Virginia is a long-time teacher of Centering Prayer and spiritual director. Sr. Carol is also a spiritual director and has served as prioress of St. Paul’s Monastery.
