Stood up in Shoreview

Arden Hills

A deputy stopped a vehicle March 31 in the 1000 block of Gramsie Road for expired tabs and ended up arresting a 21-year-old White Bear Lake woman and a 34-year-old man from the same city on felony drug charges — a search of the car found drug paraphernalia and unknown powdery/crystal substances.

Washed checks

A 47-year-old woman who lives in the 1700 block of Chatham Avenue told police March 28 that business checks had been stolen out of her mailbox, washed and cashed in the names of a 25-year-old Hopkins man and a 26-year-old woman from St. Louis Park.

Falcon Heights

Armed robbery

A 37-year-old Minneapolis man told police March 29 that around 10:45 p.m. he was walking through a strip mall parking lot in the 1600 block of Larpenteur Avenue when a man driving an SUV pulled into the lot and parked right in front of him. The driver got out of the truck and pointed a gun in the man’s face, demanding money. The 37-year-old turned over his wallet, which contained $900 cash; the robber hopped back into the SUV and headed south on Snelling Avenue.

Package theft

A 30-year-old woman told police March 30 that six packages were stolen from in front of her home in the 1400 block of Idaho Avenue; the deliveries contained $73 worth of gifts for her son.

Out of a flurry of traffic stops and citations for offenses like driving with a revoked or suspended license March 19-25, the stop and arrest of a 37-year-old woman at Larpenteur Avenue and Carl Street March 24 stands out. She was arrested on an outstanding felony criminal vehicular operation warrant out of Ramsey County, and booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

Mean drunk

Officers stopped a 30-year-old Lauderdale woman March 20 at Larpenteur Avenue and Eustis Street on suspicion of DWI. The woman refused a breath test and yelled threats and cursed at the officers while physically resisting them. She was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for gross misdemeanor DWI and refusing the breath test, along with obstructing the legal process.

Little Canada

Closing time

Just after bar close March 31 at a sports bar in the 2500 block of Rice Street, deputies arrested and cited a pair of 34-year-old St. Paul women for disorderly conduct after bar patrons saw them throw bottles and pint glasses that cut the nose of a 31-year-old bar staffer and the forehead of a 57-year-old man. The duo weren’t charged with assault since witnesses couldn’t say who threw what that hit which victim.

Inside the job

The manager of a business in the 2600 block of Rice Street told police March 29 that they suspect an employee of stealing, and had contacted the bank and law enforcement to investigate.

Mounds View

While checking out the area around the 7500 block of Greenfield Avenue just after midnight March 29, an officer saw an occupied vehicle that seemed out of place. It turned out the vehicle was occupied by an 18-year-old Mounds View woman who was arrested and cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Someone called the police March 26 to report a possibly impaired driver who’d hit multiple cars in the 2600 block of Scotland Court. Officers eventually tracked down a 52-year-old Mounds View man who lives on the block and arrested him for hit and run, driving with a revoked license, fourth-degree DWI and refusal of a DWI test.

Fight at the Mermaid

Officers headed to the Mermaid Event Center in the 2200 block of Mounds View Boulevard just after bar-close time March 25 on a report of a fight, and ended up arresting and citing a 26-year-old man from Jackson, Georgia, for disorderly conduct.

Officers responded to a drug store in the 2800 block of Mounds View Boulevard the night of March 29 on a report of an armed robbery — a handgun was used. No arrests were made.

Stolen vehicle

A report came out of the 7500 block of Silver Lake Road March 26 of a stolen gray 2006 Nissan Murano.

Stolen pizza

An officer took a report of stolen pizza March 25 in the 2600 block of Scotland Court. Evidently, a woman ordered $31.70 worth of pie, received it and somehow got away without paying for it.

New Brighton

Attempted burglary?

A 37-year-old employee who works at a business in the 1400 block of First Avenue called the police the morning of April 4 to report damage to a door’s deadbolt and something broken off in the keyhole — he suspected it was an attempted burglary.

Some people are just jerks

A 38-year-old woman called the police April 2 to report that someone had opened her mail and left it in her mailbox — one of the items had contained an Easter card, which was missing.

Armed robbery

An 82-year-old man told police he was robbed at knifepoint and punched in the face in his driveway in the 4200 block of Sylvia Lane around 5:30 p.m. March 30. He said two men came out of nowhere, assaulted him and took $200 cash; they hopped in a waiting sedan. The man thinks he may have been followed from the ATM.

Motley crew

Staff at a hotel in the 1000 block of Gramsie Road called the police March 30 suspecting that a trio of people might be using their hotel room for prostitution. While no evidence of sex trafficking was found, they were all arrested. One was a 57-year-old man with no permanent address who’s a non-compliant sex offender (he was found in possession of a scale, baggies, a crystal substance and counterfeit money); another was a 57-year-old Blaine woman who was taken in on an outstanding Anoka County felony narcotics warrant; and the third was a 38-year-old Blaine man, arrested for a Hennepin County narcotics warrant.

Stood up

A 49-year-old man told police April 3 he’d given a 53-year-old Texas woman a diamond ring, she’d accepted it, and he hasn’t seen her in the five weeks since.

A 40-year-old St. Anthony woman told police March 31 that someone stole her wallet, containing her credit cards, ID and green card, along with her iPhone, from a locker at the Shoreview Community Center, which is located in the 4500 block of Victoria Street.

A 47-year-old Farmington man was cited for misdemeanor theft March 28 after he was caught stealing $69 worth of miscellaneous items — Flonase, a thermometer, etc. — from the Target in the 3800 block of Lexington Avenue.

St. Anthony

A 19-year-old man was arrested and cited March 21 on Silver Lake Road at 36th Avenue for driving with a revoked license and illegal passing.

Broken window

An employee at the municipal liquor store in the 2600 block of 39th Avenue told police that overnight into March 20 someone had done roughly $1,000 of damage to one of the business’s storefront windows.

Gas and gotten

An employee at the Freedom Valu Center in the 3800 block of Silver Lake Road told police March 19 that someone drove off without paying for $58.41 worth of gas, and gave police the perp’s license plat number. Police came up with a possible suspect, a 30-year-old woman, and the employee ID’d her. Police tracked her down and gave her a ticket for misdemeanor theft, along with a citation for driving with a suspended license.

A 38-year-old man told police he got into a brief confrontation with an unknown man March 22 at the sports bar in the 3700 block of Stinson Boulevard. When the 38-year-old stepped outside, the man followed him out and sprayed mace in his face, then left the area. The 38-year-old refused medical attention; the bar manager said there was probably video of the incident and officers were given a description of the mace-wielding man.
