Located in thriving city spaces, seniors can take advantage of local amenities that are never too far from home

Location, amenities and community are important factors when looking for any home. You have made many important decisions over the years about where to be and what amenities are important for you and your family to continue enjoying your lifestyle.

So why would you approach your choice for senior living community any differently?

Maple and Summit Hill Senior Living residences are both situated in thriving, first-ring suburbs in Maplewood and West St. Paul. They offer quality home care with the amenities of city living. Whether residents want to shop, attend city events, enjoy restaurants or be near healthcare, staffers say the options are endless. Resident Jan LaBine says she loves the location within the city because it allows her to take advantage of the free activities the local community offers.

“The activities are great, and you’re right on the bus line,” LaBine says. “I take a few classes at St. Paul College and go to the shopping center. It’s all so easy being right here.”

It makes sense that these communities were once hotels when you consider the many options available nearby.

The owner saw a chance to capitalize on prime locations with many local amenities to offer and decided to shift their purposes from being homes away from home for road warriors, to thriving communities for seniors.

When she’s not out-and-about on the town, LaBine can be found engaging in the many activities inside the building, too. Whether it’s craft projects or a movie night, the buildings work to create connections between residents and staff.

“I know that when I’m home, I’m safe with the staff,” LaBine says. “I’m taken care of here.” Summit Hill Marketing Director Christina Pinder says the staff works to maintain those relationships — they’re all a big family in the building.

“We’re here because we love these residents,” Pinder says. “It’s all about our residents. We always ask ourselves, ‘Do they feel at home here and with us?’”

No home would be complete without the amenities that make life convenient and enjoyable.

These communities offer many of the amenities you would expect in a modern facility including 24-hour security, emergency call technology, Direct TV, internet, laundry facilities and accessible bathrooms.

Personalized care packages, weekly housekeeping and maintenance are additional services that make life in the communities carefree.

With a strong management team in place and a well-rounded team, the staff at Maple Hill and Summit Hill do all they can to make sure residents are more than just individual people. Joel Danko, vice president of operations, emphasizes the importance of celebrating the individual while embracing the community.

“We always focus on creating a place to call home,” Danko says. “With our strong staff of nurses and assistants, it’s not just an apartment you’re renting — it’s a community you’re joining.”

That community is just one aspect of life at Maple and Summit Hill Senior Living residents. Combined with the local amenities and feeling of being home in the halls, the staff works to make life enjoyable and full for its residents.

If you are looking for a new home where you can stay active, keep shopping, stay engaged with the community and be close to healthcare, you’ve found it with Maple Hill and Summit Hill Senior Living.

“We strive to provide a lifetime of caring and lifetime enrichment,” Danko says. “We want our seniors to continue to thrive. Their best day is our best day.”
