Snowshoe story stroll

 Join the Washington County Library and Washington County Parks for a snowshoe story stroll starting at the Nordic Center at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. Hot cocoa and s’mores will be served following this family friendly stroll. A limited number of snowshoes will be available, and participants are encouraged to bring their own snowshoes. RSVP to Sara Armstrong at 651-430-4325. The Lake Elmo Park Reserve is located at 1515 Keats Ave. N. A park permit is required, which costs $7 daily or $30 annually.


Oakdale Library book sale

The Oakdale Library, located at 1010 Heron Ave. N., will be hosting a book sale Feb. 9 from 12:30 to 5 p.m., Feb. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 11, from 1 to 5 p.m. Materials are priced from 10 cents to $2. Hardcover books will cost $2, paperback books will cost $1 and CDs and DVDs will be $2 each. Proceeds from Washington County Library book sales are used to support collections and programming. Gently used donations of books, CDs, DVDs, etc. are welcome throughout the year.


STEM Saturdays

Let’s have a “blast” as you discover more about one of Earth’s most incredible land forms: volcanoes. On Saturday, Feb. 17, from 2 to 3 p.m. participants will learn what volcanoes are, why they erupt and even watch a volcano erupt from space. Participants will create their own volcano and take turns blasting them off. This event is recommended for children ages 6-12. Registration is required. Best snow sculpture of Oakdale contest

Do you have what it takes to create the best snow sculpture in Oakdale? Head outside any time after a snowfall and create your masterpiece. All sculptures are judged on appearance, relative to this season’s theme: “Summer at the Beach.” The creator of the winning sculpture receives a $100 Marcus Theaters gift card.  Submit photo entries by March 30 to nathan@ci.oakdale.mn.us. The winner will be contacted by April 2.
