Warm coats needed for ex-prisoners

Jehovah Lutheran Church is collecting winter coats for just-released prisoners re-entering society. Gently used large, XL and XXL coats, jackets and other winter clothing are welcome. Donors can place items in the CrossingHOME shopping cart in the church’s donation center, indoors and to the left of the Thomas Avenue entry. The church is at 1566 Thomas Ave. in St. Paul. Drop-off items Sundays before or after 10:15 a.m. worship or call the church at 651-644-1421 to set up another time. 


Christmas tree sale in Lauderdale

The Lions Club of Falcon Heights/Lauderdale is celebrating its 31st year of selling Christmas trees. Head to Lauderdale Community Park on the corner of Roselawn and Cleveland avenues to find a great tree for your home. The sale is now open evenings and weekends. Your purchase allows the club to support many organizations in the community, including Lauderdale’s community events. 


St. Anthony Civic Orchestra Xmas pops concert

On Friday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m., the St. Anthony Civic Orchestra will play a free Christmas pops concert at the St. Anthony Community Center at 3301 Silver Lake Road. The concert will include Christmas favorites from around the world, and the neighborhood.


Irondale choir department holiday concerts

The Irondale High School Choir Department presents two holiday concerts on Monday, Dec. 18. The first concert at 6:30 p.m. features the varsity men’s and women’s choirs, concert choir and honors ensembles. The second concert at 8 p.m. features the concert choir, Knightingales, honors ensembles and a final community sing of the “Hallelujah Chorus” with the Irondale Chamber Orchestra. The concerts are free.

Shoreview Indoor Farmers’ Market

Visit the Indoor Farmers’ Market at the Shoreview Community Center in the community room from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Shop a variety of baked goods, produce, salsa, jams, decorations and more. Santa will also be making a special appearance. The community center is located at 4580 Victoria St. N. in Shoreview.


Lauderdale warming house/ice rink jobs

Lauderdale is seeking part-time warming house/ice rink attendants from approximately mid-December through the end of February. Warming house hours are weekdays 4 to 9 p.m., and weekends, holidays and school release days from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Additional hours are available for rink maintenance and flooding in the early morning and after the warming house closes in the evening. The wage is $10 per hour. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Applications are available at www.lauderdalemn.org. Applications are accepted until positions are filled.
