Make it okay 

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is hosting a presentation at the Oakdale Discovery Center on the stigma of mental illness called, “Stop the silence. Make it okay.” Depression, anxiety, eating disorders and other mental illness diagnoses can be treated. This event will focus on how to start the conversation and “Make it okay.” This presentation will be held Nov. 18 from 10:30 to noon at the Oakdale Discovery Center, 4444 Hadley Ave. Please call 651-747- 3860 to register. Oakdale Wellness 50+ is a grassroots effort to enhance and support our adults age 50 and older to remain active and healthy.


Affordable housing awareness

Affordable housing is increasingly difficult to find in the Twin Cities area. Join the Maplewood Library, 3025 Southlawn Drive, on Nov. 2 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., for a screening and discussion of the recent Twin Cities Public Television program with representatives from the Metropolitan Interfaith Council on Affordable Housing.


Art discovery fair

Discover the perfect gift while submerging yourself into local displays of talent and skill as artists and crafters come together for one amazing fair at Discovery Center, 4444 Hadley Ave. N., Oakdale, on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be a variety of artwork and crafts available for purchase including paintings, photography, woodworking, jewelry, pottery and more. There will be live music by 2 Sisters, and the Taqueria Los Paisanos Food Truck will be there as well. Bring the kids. The “Kids Art Korner” provides the opportunity for kids to try out their artistic talent.
