LETTER: Keep park maintenance in the IGH budget

To the editor,

From soccer fields to walking trails, green spaces play important roles in developing healthy families and healthy communities. On Monday, Oct. 30, the Inver Grove Heights City Council will discuss next year’s budget for maintaining city parks. The current proposed budget ensures that the city will be able to make repairs and maintain the park facilities and green spaces we have in the city so that everyone in our community has access to safe and clean outdoor recreation no matter their age or income.

If you believe parks and green spaces add value to the quality of life in IGH, the city council and mayor need to hear from you before the end of the month. Phone calls, letters and emails will help ensure the quality of our parks and trails now and into the future. You can also attend the council budget discussion at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, to express your interest in keeping this budget on track. There are many competing items in the budget so letting the council know you support the maintenance of city parks is key to ensuring the quality of life we enjoy here in Inver Grove Heights.
