Opportunities offered at the Benedictine Center

The Benedictine Center in Maplewood is offering these upcoming opportunities in September:

• “Magnificat-Illuminations of Mary’s Song of Praise” will be on display through Nov. 1. This art exhibit will be open daily, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artist Kelly Kruse — in collaboration with theologian Kathryn Heidelberger — has combined scripture, prayer and contemporary illumination to illustrate Mary’s spirit-filled hymns to a God who promises to tip the world’s hierarchies upside-down and save his people.

• “Attentive Companions: Spiritual Direction and the Journey with God” will be held Sept. 19, 7 to 9 p.m. Participants ask questions and learn more about what happens in spiritual direction — a process where a spiritual director listens to their concerns, shares insights and creates a place where they feel safe talking about spiritual issues. A freewill offering will be collected.
