Century College 50th anniversary celebration

On September 18, 1967, Lakewood State Junior College opened its doors to 503 local students. A few years later, classes began at the new 916 Area Vocational Technical Institute. These two events marked the beginning of something transformative in the lives of thousands over the next 50 years — Century College.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 18 will recognize this significant milestone and its impact on our local communities. Minnesota State representatives, local legislators, government officials, community members, alumni, retirees, faculty, staff and students will be in attendance. A ceremony at noon will include a proclamation from several local communities declaring Sept. 18 “Century College Day.” The celebration will take place on the college’s west campus backyard, 3401 Century Ave. N., White Bear Lake.
