Workplace shooting in North St. Paul

On Wednesday Nov. 23, around 2:20 p.m. the North St. Paul Police Department responded to a shooting at Anchor Mold and Tool Company, located on the 2200 block of Second Street in North St. Paul.

Police indicate that the incident appeared to be an isolated domestic situation where an ex-husband went to his former wife’s place of employment to harm her.

The woman was shot multiple times with a shotgun and was transported to the hospital by an ambulance. She is listed in stable condition and recovering in the hospital, according to media reports.

The man fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived, and reportedly was later spotted parked at an activity center building at Bunker Hills Regional Park.

Police reportedly caught up to the man around 5:30 p.m. and in the course of a 30-minute standoff, the man attempted to flee in his vehicle with his gun pointed at police, rammed a police vehicle and allegedly shot himself multiple times before he was taken into custody by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Department.

Due to several self-inflicted gunshot wounds including one to the face, the man was taken to the hospital.
