Fall playoff round-up

A handful of Roseville-area high school fall sports teams saw their seasons come to an end last week. Here is a quick rundown.


RAHS girls tennis


The Raiders were the fourth seed in Section 4AA and went 1-1 in the section team tournament. Roseville opened the post-season with a 7-0 victory over 13th-seeded North St. Paul and then fell 4-3 in the quarterfinals to fifth-seeded Centennial.

Six members of the team have one more shot at extending their seasons through the state tournament. The Section 4AA singles and doubles tournaments are Oct. 17-18 at the Baseline Tennis Center at the University of Minnesota. 

Playing in the section singles tournament for Roseville are Hayley Helberg and Nikki Ridenour. Helberg is the fifth seed and Ridenour is seeded second. Roseville doubles teams are Surena Vu and Anna Park, who are seeded sixth, and Rachel Caprella and Sophie Caprella, who are unseeded.

The section champion and runner-up in each draw advance to the state tournament on Oct. 27 and 28 at Baseline.


RAHS girls soccer


The Raiders drew the sixth seed in Section 4AA and opened up the playoffs against Suburban East Conference rival Mounds View on Oct. 11. The Mustangs, seeded third, won 4-0 to advance to the semifinals.

Roseville finished its season with a record of 9-7-1.


Concordia Academy girls soccer


The Beacons, seeded ninth in Section 4A, opened the post-season on Oct. 13 with a match at eighth-seeded Cristo Rey Jesuit. Concordia lost 5-2 and finished the season with a record of 6-9.
