Homecoming week at Concordia Academy

Following a season-opening victory, things haven’t gone too well for the Concordia Academy football team. The Beacons lost their next two games while scoring only six points.

Next up for Concordia is homecoming on Friday, Sept. 30. Helping the Beacons celebrate is St. Paul Como Park.

Como Park, like Concordia Academy, was 1-2 through three weeks. The Cougars split their first two games against fellow St. Paul city opponents. Highland Park downed Como Park 35-14 in week one and the Cougars bounced back to take out Harding 35-18 in week two.

Como Park traveled to Breck in week three and fell 21-14. The Cougars faced Minneapolis Henry in week four, past the deadline for this edition of the Review.

Minneapolis Henry was Concordia Academy’s week-three opponent and the Patriots rolled to a 41-0 win. Following a scoreless first quarter, Henry scored twice in each of the final three quarters.

The Patriots rolled up more than 500 yards of offense, including 352 on the ground.

The shutout was the first Concordia Academy suffered since week one of 2012 when the Beacons lost 42-0 to DeLaSalle.

Concordia Academy visited SeaFoam Stadium on the campus of Concordia University in St. Paul in week four to face St. Agnes. That game was played past the deadline for this edition of the Review.

After hosting Como Park, Concordia Academy travels to Columbia Heights in week six and returns home to host Mound Westonka and St. Paul Johnson to close out the regular season.
