Raiders, Beacons football on the road in week two

After opening the season last week with home games, the football teams from Roseville Area High School and Concordia Academy are hitting the road in week two.

Roseville returns to playing Suburban East Conference foes when it visits Stillwater on Friday, Sept. 9. The Raiders faced Burnsville of the South Suburban Conference in week one.

Roseville enters Friday’s game looking to snap a three-game losing streak to the Ponies. The Raiders last took down Stillwater in 2013, the season Roseville advanced to the state semifinals.

Concordia Academy renews an old conference rivalry when it plays at Breck on Friday night. The Beacons and Mustangs were both members of the Tri-Metro Conference up until 2013, when Breck and a handful of others left the conference to form their own league.

Concordia owns a four-game winning streak over Breck. The Beacons won games in 2011, 2012 and 2013 before the rivalry took a hiatus in 2014. The advent of district football in 2015 put the two teams back together and Concordia Academy won last year s match-up 27-21 to give the Beacons a 2-0 start to the season.

Because of an early holiday deadline, results of week one were not available for this edition of the Review.
