Petty Officer 1st Class Nicholas Brown

Petty Officer 1st Class Nicholas Brown from Oakdale, serving with Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron One Three Two (VAQ-132), earned Senior Sailor of the Year for 2015. 

The Sailor of the Year Program recognizes superior performance of enlisted personnel emphasizing outstanding achievements, exemplary personal conduct and military bearing, and demonstrated initiative in the performance of duty. This program also motivates personnel to strive for improvement in their assigned duties and leadership.

“This honor represents the hard work and dedication of all the sailors I have had the fortune to work with and lead,” said Brown.  

As an aviation electrician’s mate, Brown is responsible for maintaining aviation electrical and instrument systems.

Brown, a 1999 graduate of Tartan Senior High School, has served in the Navy for 15 years.

“Petty Officer Brown is an outstanding sailor who enables the daily maintenance of five EA-18G aircraft,” said Cmdr. Bob Holmes, commanding officer of VAQ-132. “I am very pleased with his leadership, knowledge and professionalism.”

Located in Whidbey Island, Washington, VAQ-123 provides airborne electronic attack to Naval, Joint and Coalition Forces.
