Crunch time for girls swim teams

In a typical year, football is the last Minnesota high school fall sport to crown state champions but this year that honor falls to girls swimming and diving. The state meet is next week and getting there requires solid performances at the section meets being held this weekend.

The three Bulletin-area teams will chase those state berths starting on Thursday.

Irondale competes in Section 5AA, which holds its state qualifier at Minnetonka East Middle School. Mounds View and St. Anthony Village are members of Section 4AA and head to Stillwater Junior High for the section meet.

Those who qualify will assemble for the state meet at the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center on Nov. 18-20.
