Top-five tilt awaits MVHS girls soccer

Entering this week, the Mounds View High School girls soccer team had yet to lose a game this season. The third-ranked Mustangs face a serious challenge to that fact this week.

Mounds View's third match this week is a Saturday home matinee against fourth-ranked Eden Prairie. The Eagles' have two losses this season and both were to ranked teams (No. 8 Chanhassen and No. 5 Wayzata).

Mounds View's lone non-victory thus far is a 1-1 tie against seventh-ranked Burnsville on Sept. 1.

Eagan is the top-ranked team in the state and like Mounds View, has yet to lose this season. No. 2 is Lakeville North, whose only loss is to Eagan.

Also on the docket this week for Mounds View are home Suburban East Conference matches against White Bear Lake on Tuesday and Stillwater on Thursday.

Mounds View closes out the regular season next week with matches at Woodbury and Park-Cottage Grove.

The Mustangs began this week alone in first place in the Suburban East Conference standings at 4-0. Park and East Ridge were tied for second at 3-1-1. Mounds View handed East Ridge its one conference loss last week.
