Roseville offense still struggling

Putting points on the board has been a struggle for the Roseville Area High School football team. The Raiders reached their season high for points in a game against Woodbury last Thursday but that total still wasn’t anywhere close to what was needed to win.

Roseville dropped to 0-3 with a 23-9 loss to Woodbury, which improved to 3-0 with the victory. Through three games, Roseville has scored 16 points.

Roseville opened the season with a 28-0 defeat at the hands of Burnsville and followed that up with a 17-7 loss to Stillwater.

Things don't get any easier this week as Roseville returns home to host Mounds View on Friday. The Raiders have dropped their last 12 meetings with the Mustangs (2-1). Mounds View comes into the game fresh off a 27-0 win over Forest Lake.

Concordia Academy

The Beacons' week-three game against Minneapolis Henry was played on Friday, past the early holiday deadline for this edition of the Review.

Concordia and Henry entered week three as two of three unbeaten teams in the Twin City Red sub-district, along with Mound Westonka. The Beacons opened the season with back-to-back victories over Spectrum and Breck.

Next up for Concordia is a game against a longtime rival as it welcomes St. Agnes on Friday. The Aggies and Beacons are Tri-Metro Conference mates but were put in different sub-districts.

St. Agnes, which also played its week-three game on Friday, was 1-1 after the first two weeks of the season. The Aggies opened the season with a 7-0 loss to SMB (St. Paul Academy/Minnehaha Academy/Blake) and rebounded in week two to knock off Minneapolis Roosevelt 36-12.

Concordia enters Friday's game looking to snap a two-game losing streak to St. Agnes, which beat the Beacons 24-21 last year and 29-28 in 2013. The Beacons last topped the Aggies in 2012 by a score of 34-14.
