Historical organizations, sites invited to present at ‘History in Your Backyard’

Local historical organizations and sites are invited to apply for a table at the “History in Your Backyard” event being held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, at the Washington County Historic Courthouse.

The event is designed to bring together, in one location, the purveyors of local history so people can learn about the many historic opportunities there are in Washington County and the surrounding area. This is a free, family event and there is no fee charged for organizations that wish to participate.

In addition to learning about local history, guests may tour the old county jail, see courthouse current exhibits, and enjoy light refreshments. Children of all ages may participate in an architectural scavenger hunt and play with old-fashioned toys.

This event helps get information out into the public about historic sites and organizations and is also an opportunity for scouts, 4-H, and home-schooled families to fulfill history requirements.
