Vehicle traveling at high speed crashes at Hwy. 120 and Conway on St. Patrick’s Day

Oakdale police observed a vehicle speeding at approximately 100 mph while traveling south on the 800 block of Highway 120 in the northbound lane on March 17.

According to the police report, the speeding vehicle nearly struck a squad car, and the officer in that car turned around and activated lights and sirens behind the vehicle but lost sight of it.

Police then located the vehicle, which had crashed off the roadway at the intersection of Highway 120 and Conway avenues.

Officers said the 19-year-old driver appeared to be inebriated and was taken to Regions Hospital.

A 17-year-old passenger had facial injuries and was released to his father. His blood-alcohol content registered .16 on a preliminary breath test.

Police said they snapped photos at the scene and recorded taped statements. The driver’s blood-alcohol level was tested at the hospital.

According to the police report, the 19-year-old was set to be charged with criminal vehicular operation, reckless driving, driving without a valid license and driving without insurance.
