The seasonal flower mart at North Heights Hardware Hank has been such a big hit with area gardeners that it’s no surprise the store is opening up the mart again beginning in late April.

Kathy Harrell, who was the long-time manager of the neighborhood’s Linder’s pop-up flower mart that closed in 2013, is coming back again this spring to provide the healthy, colorful blooming plants, quality service and products that outdoor plant lovers have come to rely on.

This year, the North Heights flower mart will utilize its revamped Facebook page to provide regular updates on new shipments of its large varieties of colorful annuals, perennials, vegetables and ornamental grasses, as soon as they come into the store.

The flower mart offers locally known and high-quality nursery brands such as Bailey Nurseries of Newport and Monrovia, as well as Hybels, Costa Farms and other specialty brands.

The knowledgeable North Heights staff can answer any questions you have and help find the right gardening and lawn-care tools for planting and caring for your vegetable patches, flower beds, trees and lawn throughout the growing season.

Besides a complete line of garden tools, lawnmowers and fertilizers, the store has a wide range of other products to help with your other household needs -- from nuts and bolts, to electrical supplies to power tools.

The store has an advanced technology key-cutting service with the capability to duplicate computer-chipped keys.

It also has a computerized color-matching service with the new Valspar “Pristine” paint that is engineered to resist staining.

Keep up with new shipments

Above are the lush colors, textures and scents that will be on hand as North Heights Hardware Hank reopens its popular flower mart in late April.

Be sure to check out their Facebook page at North Heights Hardware Hank for online updates on new floral shipments for their greenhouse. As soon as certain plants are in stock, they’ll post it on their page so you can get the plants right away.

Ever since the family-owned store opened in 1965, it has built a strong reputation of quality service, with its customers’ needs in mind.

Owner Jim Schwalbach says the store offers many types of service, including small-engine repairs, window and screen repairs and tool sharpening, all performed by North Heights’ expert staff.

The store also has a full-service rental department to ensure that customers have the things they need to get a project done right the first time.

Shoppers can participate in the store’s Repeat Rewards Program and get a $5 coupon for every $100 spent, earn double points every Thursday, and receive exclusive reward member coupons. North Heights Hardware Hank is a community-driven business, Schwalbach says, and is a proud sponsor of various local school sports teams, community activities such as Canadian Days, and the Little Canada Recreation Association’s Ice Fishing Contest.

For a shopping experience that’s completely different from the frustrating searches for an item in big box stores, stop by North Heights. The long-time Hardware Hank employees will help you quickly locate what you need and offer helpful advice on how to install it.

The store and its seasonal flower mart are located on Rice Street next to the Market Place Shopping Center.
